Brake issue :-( Help needed. Rotors or something else?
Noticed that steering wheel shakes when brake only
Also very noticeable when stoping down the hill Car pulls to the left a little when braking if i let go steering wheel completely at fast speed, but it stops straight if i hold steering wheel Makes sound sometimes,if i brake slowly at low speeds I took it to the store they said probably the issues is that all 4 rotors are warped. Will it cause pulling to the left? My calipers have been rebuilt at 70k miles, but now it is 84k miles. Rotors have been changed at 65k miles, but pads were not changed. |

Sounds like you need rotors but thats not whats causing the wheel shaking, the wheel shaking could be a bad lower control arm or upper control arm. go to some local mom and pop shop and put the car on the lift, ask them to check your front control arms.
Good luck ! =) |

Whose idea was it to fit new rotors with used pads? Ye gods thats a no no.
The shaking could be warped rotors on the front but the shaking is most likely the thrust arm bushes. These are now available in polyurethane and are far superior.

rotors warped all 4 of them. so will new rotors and pads cure the issue?

It will cure the brake shudder but the pulling could still be those thrust arm bushes.

sounds like warped/worn rotors to me.........don't know anything about the bushes. My steering wheel shook when I braked trying to slow down from high speeds. Changed new rotors and brakes and now it's fine. The pulling to one side might be an alignment issue.

Here is a guide for the bushes.....
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...tempt-2-a.html As for the brakes, yes, straightforward but fit 2 new pad sensors at the same time and bed the brakes in properly to prevent a recurrance of the warping. X5Girl, xxx.

Completely off-topic but, sobi6111 is your X5 a sports model with colour coded door handles? or a non sport that has had them sprayed to match? If the latter, did you get them sprayed? were they sprayed on the car or off? is the paint match good. It looks like you have the all orange non- sport indicator lenses hence me asking the question........but actually, after looking more closely they look like the sport model kind. Ignore this....sorry
