Newbie question about suspension

I've been reading and learning from this forum for the past 3 weeks. I currently have an e46 328i and I'm in the market for an X5. I been reading about the diferent configurations, engines, etc, b4 I decide which one to buy.
The only thing I'm not clear (for now)is about suspension... does all the X5 have rear air suspension? I've read the in order to have auto-leveling you first need to have sport package... does that means that all the sport packages have rear air susp?
Just asking bec I would like to buy one without air susp (if that is posible), but also like all the cool things the sport package adds to the X5.

No, not all E53 X5s have the rear air suspension. It differs depending on the model year, and trim. For some models, it came with the sport package. For others, it comes as standard equipment even if there is no sports package.

Specifically, on the POST-facelift models (2004 onwards): all 4.4i and 4.8is models came with self-levelling rear air suspension as standard, even with no sports package.

For the post-facelift 3.0, it was not standard. However it automatically got included in the 3.0 with sports package. It was also available as a stand-alone option on the 3.0.

FWIW, I don't think you need to go out of your way to avoid the air suspension. I know some folks have had issues with it, but I have had zero problems with mine.

Aren't all 4.8is models front and rear self-leveling air suspension?

04 and up with 4.4or4.8 have front and rear air. 99-03 had rear air on 4.4 and almost every 3.0 has front and rear springs. Richi rich has a 3.0 and so does mrbmwx5. They have lowered there's. I prefer front and rear air because of the ride heightt settings.

95 lsteg it appears as though if you're looking for an '04 or newer X5 without rear air, your only choice is a non-sport 3.0.
I've seen very few 4.4s with front & rear air susp. During my searching, I think I came across 2. If it has the ride height selection switch, it has it.
jsears-I'm 99.99999999999999% sure you're right.

Talking

Thanks for the info!
I'm just a little worried about having probs with a system that I don't really mind if I have it or not, but not that worried as to pass on the sport package. My current 328 have it and I really like how it handles, plus the seats and all the other extras. Just wasn't sure about the details of the different configurations.
