Check Licplate Light (Some Help Please?!?!?)

Ever since I purchased by X my middle brake light (3rd Brake Light) (Pictured below) Never worked.

I would have wanted to fix it but i cannot find anyway to replace JUST the light itself. If there is PLEASE someone fill me in on the info.... Anyways from my research to replace this entire light its going to cost me around $320. which is NOT worth it for a stupid light...

To get to the problem, I opened up the trunk while the car was on and I got a light on the cluster saying "Check Licplate Light". Lic Plate meaning License Plate Light, when that popped up the first thing that popped in my mind was those 2 little tiny light bulbs that light up the plates yet i went and checked them... there working fine :/

So bottom line, my question is that if that middle light wasnt working, it would show the CHECK LICPLATE LIGHT error? thats the reason behind that?

Thanks for your time!
