Why would you want bigger injectors?

Why would you want bigger injectors??? Are you installing a supercharger or turbo setup?

Bigger injectors without the physical need for them will actually lower your power, worsen your fuel mileage and possibly wash down your cylinders causing ring wear.... bad idea.

ohh ok thanks for the info, I was wondering if I can do this upgrade and get more power because I have an 7.3 Excursion with bigger injectors and I gained 75 hp but its diesel so I guess its a whole different story

Bigger injectors will just add more fuel, so unless you add more air, you will just run rich and lose power.

You will get optimum performance by keeping the injectors clean, or having them professionally cleaned at higher mileages but apart from that, leave well alone.

Diesel and gasoline is like comparing....diesel and gasoline. Two COMPLETELY different things. Your diesel runs about 2x the compression, has a turbo to add pressure and doesn't even use sparkplugs. Simply adding larger injectors to your X would be absolutely pointless, flooding the engine and fouling plugs. About the only thing injectors wise you could do to an X, which i'm not even certain what they car as stock, is getting ones that atomize the fuel better...IE going from 2 nozzles to 4. Google for images of injectors to see what I mean.

If you added an S/C or turbo to your X is the ONLY time you'd want larger injectors. When and if you ever considered going forced induction, I'd be on Bimmerforums.com - The Ultimate BMW Forum or BimmerBoard Free Message Board Communities for BMW Enthusiasts in the 3 series forums looking for custom headers and ECU's before i'd ask anyone about anything here.

Just stumbled across something... not bigger injectors, but better designed.

Mustangs Fuel Injectors Are Awsome! - Bimmerforums - The Ultimate BMW Forum

Digging around in the link at the bottom of the first post I found ones that will work for my M62tu in the 4.6is, but don't see any for the M54 engine... only the M52. Looks ilke you're still out of luck unfortunately.
