intermittant "check front foglight"

1st) are they assuming I'm dumb enough that I need to be told the foglights are in the front, or am I supposed to have rear foglights also? side foglights?

got to be some kind of loose wire somewhere - often will light or go out with opening or closing a door, or a sharp bump in the road

already replaced bulbs

new tailight assys on order as the boards on old ones full of spark holes - hopefully these have been updated from originals

3M leadlamp polish kit worked great! - they look fantastic! - had protective plastic installed the next day - tomrrow the rock chips so I can get the rest of the clear bra installed

on the E39 for example, there are front and rear fog lights.... you can light either the rear, or the front, or both (a dial switch on the right, similar to the main lights dial switch on the left)...

anyway, about the intermittent warning, it happened with me with the front side light (the corner one, orange)... it showed the warning and the blinking got faster. after replacing the CV boot with all the hammering, it went back to normal... then it went off again, then on, etc... so I took it to my local electrician, he opened the light, got the bulb out and cleaned the contacts of the bulb and the place where it goes in... it was a month ago, still good till now...

So basically it may be some oxidation or dirt on the contacts...

This is happening to me now. First one side stopped working then the other. I inspected it and there was water and corrosion on the conectors and contacts. I 'll try and clean them and see what happens.

I had finally strapped the ballast and wires down because it was just laying in there prior and water kept getting on them. I guess I need to find a better place to tie them down as its still getting moisture on them. Not sure if the water is from rain or car washes though - or both?!
