Help Request. BMW Nav in Japanese.

Hey all,

I actually need to pick your brains. I have a friend that has imported an 2006 E53 that has onboard NAvi but it is in Japanese. Does anyone know if there is a way to set this thing to english or is a new disc needed altogether. And yes I do have a friend that speaks and read fluently in Japanese but this specific vehicle is in Barbados and not in FLroida. Any help?

Well thanks for that tip Ghost Flame!

Any other suggestions since I'm trying to do this for a friend out of the country?

Does anybody know if the X5 in Japan reads off a specific disc in Japanese? Meaning if I get a USA DVD if it will read it in engish or is that DVD Player coded to Japan?

Have you tried asking in Navigation Forum ?

KiwiJochen should be able to help you...

It probably needs to be re-programmed. I don't think there is a language option in any of the menus. If I had the X, I would go look for you. You may want to post your question in the Navigation forum. You might get a quicker response there!

It may not. I was on the navteq site and it apperas that navteq isn't in Japan... that doesn't mean that someone in California or elsewhere would not want a Japanese version.

Is it in fact Navteq? or another brand?

I didn't know that. So navteq is just the discs and not the system?
