that's great!
So how much did it cost you to replace the two struts?

If you mean your problem is really #2 (the tranny seemingly trying to find the correct gear), then yes. It's not really a problem, per se, in that BMW designed it that way to get max mileage.

You mentioned it happens every 2 secs or so at 1500 rpms ... this part does not happen to mine though.

Exactly. Mine does it when cruising steady at 60km/h (37.4 Mph). I know this and it's very noticeable because that's the most common speed limit and the regular cruising speed for the car. It feels like it's dropping a gear, but it doesn't. It's not hunting, which I understand as dropping and then changing up again. Slowing down a touch or speeding up a little cures it.
Very annoying that I have to be either slower or faster (A big No No here) than surrounding traffic.

I have heard this is common in the 7 series with the same transmission as well.

Congratulations and welcome. I have noticed the transmission is a little jumpy sometimes, but love her anyways. Good luck with getting it straightened out.

Hey guys Thanx!
Well Chigga,i got the X before you!

The tranny issue is not a bug deal to me,and it's god to know that most of them have that problem.I don't lose sleep over it,because when do i ever really drive in highest gear at 1500rpms.

FYI to all you who followed this thread. Transmission lost 5th gear and failed soon after and required a rebuild. Rebuilder told me this issue is common with this transmission.
