Does the reset work for 2005 4.4's? Maybe I should give this a try some time. I have the same issue and it's been ruining the whole driving experience especially when I live in the city where we do a lot of stop and go.

I have an 01 X5 4.4i and I too have this hard down shift issue, I too live in New York where it requires one to stop a lot. I find it completely redundant for something such as this to happen. Especially to a car such as an X5. I have tried to reset the transmissions adaptions but I am not sure if i did it correctly. For those who have done it in the past, is there any message on the cluster you are suppose to receive once you do it correctly ? |

No there isn't a message but I have felt the difference after just driving it for 30 seconds.

I did it again last night, It seemed a bit bumpy when i first took off, I took 4.6Is Ryder's advice and floored it right after I did the adaption method, I honestly didnt feel a HARD down shift anymore but the down shift was still there.... but not as hard.

Does anyone know if the transmission adaptation reset will work on an E70 4.8 with the fob key. I did do thiis with my old E53 4.4 and its was like night and day. With the E70 comfort access or not I assume the keys 2nd posiiotn is pressing the start button without your foot on the brake so the engine wont turn over? Any thoughts?
