Sunroof wear and tear - yeah right
Hoping for some help. I have a 04 model with panoramic sunroof. I put up the sunroof and the rear section got stuck up. I went to my fantastic service centre who specializes in BMW (ex BMW tech who started his own centre). He pulled the roof apart and found that the mechanism that works the opening/closing has broken. Don't have pic but may not be relevant for question (PIC ADDED NOW - PART 7). Anyway to cut a long story short, my mechanic swears that this is a broken part simply from failure. I had purchased an expensive ($3700 AUD) extended warranty when I bought the vehicle that stated it covered all items covered by manufacturer's warranty but not wear and tear. Guess what... of course they are arguing that the sunroof failed from wear and tear. What a load of rubbish, my mechanic swears there is no way that it is possible it is a wear and tear issue and is willing to help by writing a letter to the insurance company. I know that lots of people here had their roof fixed either under warranty or by good will by BMW. Anyone got any ideas how I can prove that this is not a wear and tear problem but rather something that would have been covered under manufacturer's warranty?
