01 4.4i Warning Light`
I am having a strange problem that I wanted to see if anyone had seen and might point me in the right direction. If I do a long distance drive of approx. 250km I get the engine warning light. I asked a friend of mine with a laptop and the OPUS software to check it out and he got the following errors reported: P0348 Manufacturer Specific P1161 Manufacturer Specific P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction After I have finished my long drive and parked up for the night the light is gone the next day. I have driven for two weeks on short drives of less than 100km a day and the fault does not show. It only seems to be on long drives. Any help would be gratefully appreciated...... Bob. |

Hi Bob, I'm no expert, and so I only speak from experience...
My engine light has been coming on and off for some time to tell me there is a minor error code being thrown up. I had it checked out and the diagnostic told me that it was the camshaft sensor bank 2. I changed it last week and no more engine light, plus no silly 'kangaroo-juice-like' hesitation when cold, as well as problems starting when hot. From my experience sensors dont like the heat, and so the camshaft sensor broke down over time, and then finally reached an unacceptable level where starting from hot became difficult. I changed the sensor, took about 15 minutes, and hey presto, I have my car back the way I remembered it!! Hope this helps Ian |

Thanks for that Ian, I'll try that first and let you know how I get on.
