a different check oil light message

My 2003 X5 3.0 has the bad pixel problem so I cannot read the message very well that pops up after the engine has been turned off, never during operating the engine. The cryptic message is like this: Check l lNE OIL L

Any idea what this may be? My engine oil had gotten low the other week and I filled it back up. There was a different message for that, and it switched on during operation. I checked the power steering and brake fluid levels. Is this related to the trans or diff?

It is "Check Engine Oil Level". Just had that this week on mine.

Wheel of Fortune

That combination of letters looks like it would solve the puzzle. Why does it only come on after the car is turned off? The oil level is full. It had gotten low the other week and I filled it. Does it continue to do this for some period of time? Also, if I only turn the car on and let it cycle thru the initial computer stuff and turn it off, no message. If I do the same and just shift into a gear and then off, no movement of the car, the message comes on.

this was happening to me everytime I turned mine off as well. I did an oil change and it still didnt go away. A computer reset made it go away finally.

Honestly, my mechanic reset it when I had my alternator replaced last week however it also seems like disconnecting the battery or a while and re-connecting (which is probably all he did to do the work) would do it. Just turn the ignition on for about 10 seconds without starting the car after you reconnect it, then start it and turn the wheel all the way to each side (left bump stop to right bump stop etc) and all your warning lights will go off etc...
