My X is crying

So it's rainy season again in the pacific north west and i happen to see water dripping from the button that controls moon/sun roof... it seems to be leaking around it and the button still functions... i'm afraid my whole headliner is full of water now... How can i fix this problem? I have read the other threads about water leaks but it all seems to be in the rear by the subwoofer and the spare tire well. Any ideas? Thanks guys and keep up the great work here!

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Try this... open the sunroof and slowly pour some water into the front water channel of the sunroof cassette in the corners by the drains. It should normally flow easily through the drains and pour out on the ground behind the front wheels. If it doesn't and it backs up in the cassette, find the drain outlets under the X behind the front wheels and clear them out, or if you have access to an air compressor and some small hose to snake into the drain holes in the corners you can blow it out from up top.

But the reason feeding trimmer line through the top doesn't work for people is that the clog is usually at the very bottom... I'd start here.

I am seeing the same thing, but luckily in CA it doesn't rain much.

Here is the thread with some info/input from others, including Weasel. There are also a few more pictures for you to see: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...eavy-rain.html

I have been too busy (and weather too sunny) to call the dealer and see if there is anything they can do and what they suggest, so I am interested to know what your (and other people's) experiences end up being.

ok i'm in the truck right now... wish i had a camera... it looks to me the front 2 drain holes don't lead anywhere but on to the headliner and then drains down the A pillar beside the the air bags! i don't see any hoses that connects from the drain holes... but water does eventually come through the bottom as from your picture... thank goodness it's sunny today. i don't have a garage but just a low car porch... can't do much when it's a bad day out.... any advice would be great... i've considered taking the whole headliner out but it's my daily driver for now so i can't just leave it sitting...

Also noticed the whole front passenger side is soaked just like PTE had the same problem back in 2008. Weasel, i'm reading that post and will follow those instructions.. Man gotta love BMW.

For now i'm just curious why there's no hose or tube that runs from the drain holes all the way down... :S
