X5 at a Drive-in movie

So we decided to do something different for a change and hit up a drive-in movie. This is a first for the X5. 2 things I'd like to address the first being, is there a way to turn off the daytime running lights; and secondly, is there a way to turn off the lights in the tailgate with it open and the key in the ignition? I was able to get all the other lights off, but the one in the tailgate remained on.

Pull the parking brake up one click to turn off the running lights (I think. . .works on the wife's Jetta. Tail gate lights. . .not sure, fuse maybe.

Someone posted on this a while back I think. Do a search for tailgate lights. They basically just tripped the catch inside the gate to "trick" the car into thinking the tailgate was closed. Just remember to open it back up before you slam the gate closed.

i believe u have to close the hatch, but u can leave the
tailgate portion lowered for sitting. just be sure to open
the hatch before closing the tailgate.

I was the one who posted the tailgate trick. Just reach up and snap the latch closed as if it were engaging the lower portion. Forgetting to unlatch it can be a problem. I suggest a large ring or metal loop with a flag attached to use to close the latch, that will remind you to unlatch it before you try to close the hatch. By the way, I go to the drive-in in my X5 too. Good luck

So in other words getting one of those "Remove before flight" tags should work.

Hey thanks for all the ideas! Any input as to which fuse I would pull or a quick way to remove the 2 bulbs? BTW I wonder if the dealership can turn off the day time running lights.
