Stereo failed

Hi all, the audio system (original, audio/tape type, no nav) just failed, screen is ok when the button is pushed on but no sounad through the speakers. Is it possible to just swap with another original audio get on Ebay or elsewhere or is i possible to adapt another system?
Sorry for the stupid question, I don't know much about stereos.

Is the problem only a sound problem? I mean when you put it on radio does it show the frequency length or name of the radio station? If that is the case then it looks like your head unit is fine and it is your amplifier which id either dead or the fuse to the amplifier is blown.

Many thanks for the reply! Do you know where the amplifier is located (2001 3.0I)?

Spent an hour or so to find the amp in my X, it is not in the trunk nor anywhere else. Not amp fuse either. I'm wondering if my basic stereo model really has an amp or if the amp is built in the stereo itself, does someone knows?

Sorry for the dumb question but what is TCU? Is it related to the amp and stereo system? If not where the amp can be hidden?
Thanks once again!

TCU is Bluetooth-Assist

Did you look in the area where the spare tire is located?

Thanks, didn't know that Bluetooth would already exist in 2001! As to look near the spare wheel, it would need some delay (see picture...)
