Front Brakes: Zimmermann, Jurid

Hey,

I need to change my front pads and rotors ASAP

There is severe grinding on the outer rim of the rotors.

I have searched and read many posts regarding this popular topic.

Does anyone have any specific experiences with Zimmermann Rotors with/or Jurid Pads? I have never even heard of Jurid.

My main concern is brake noise, and pedal feel... any improvement from OE brake dust would be a plus.

Should the fact that I have 22inch wheels affect my pad/rotor choice?

Thanks in advance,

With 22 inch wheels, it is much harder for your brakes to bring them to a stop and it is going to be harder for you to avoid dust at that size.

I have not used the pads you are talking about. Personally, I would go with Centric rotors and Axxis pads (delux) if you are wanting to avoid dust as much as possible.

DRUMS AND ROTORS - Centric Parts

AXXIS BRAKES - Deluxe Advanced Ceramic

Don't forget to change the sensor if the brake warning light is on.

No experience with the Jurid pads, but I'm very happy with the Zimmermann/Axxis setup. If you're getting the Zimmermann rotor, make sure to buy the newer coated ones. I got some older stocks without the rust protective coating on them and the hats are covered with surface rust now. But other than the cosmetic rust issue, the Zimmermann are pretty good bang for the buck. I would definitely get them again, but only if I can find the newer coated rotors.

Are they exclusive, or does BMW use other brands as well.

dkl, my Centric rotors have that black coating on the hub/hat as well and you are correct, it looks much better. Especially as they age.

on a x5 they are used exclusively 3.0 to 4.8is BMW does use other brands, but you can do your own research, or just say you dont believe me.

How funny....I was doing front brake replacement research this morning. Brake light isn't on, but with 91k on the clock and the pads looking thin, it's time for some TLC.

With that said, do I really need to replace the rotors along with the pads? The rotors aren't warped. Then again, I do not have a micrometer to measure rotor thickness either. Just from a physical observation, they look good to me.

Hey thanks guys,

My thoughts exactly on autohausaz.com, this is where I saw the zimmermann/Jurid combo in the first place.

Shipping is a turnoff (~140) but I still save hella lot compared to dealer.
