Irritating Lock / Window Behavior

So... My X5 has developed a rather irritating habit now that it's back on the road.

It does two things:

1) Front windows roll up when the ignition turns on.

2) Front windows roll down when you lock the car with either fob. (Manual locking with the key still works correctly.)

Any thoughts on this one?

Reminds me somehow of the feature where you can hold the unlock button on the key fob and the windows will roll down. Maybe a BDC or LCM issue? Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

Something is definitely haywire. I would reboot everything by disconnect the battery and reprogram the fobs.

Have you done coding on the car? I don't even think there are options for what you describe.

When you say roll up or down do you mean all the way or just an inch or two?

They go down all the way when locked. And they close when you turn the key to ignition 2, which suggests that it’s not fob specific.

And no, no coding.

Do your key fob buttons work?

If not (and I don't know if it's possible) could it be that the induction charge is enough to let your dead key work and that it's got a screwed up button and is normally without power till induction making it signal?

Probably not possible but thought I'd chuck it out there....

This happens with both key fobs, which both work. And one of the keys I bought last year.

Do this process;

Exit the car with all the windows up.

Lock the car with the key blade

Unlock the car with the key blade

Put the key in the ignition to roll down the driver window

Reach out the window and lock and unlock the car with the key blade.

Report your findings.

I used to have a situation where the steering wheel and seat would move to some mystery position when I used key fob to unlock the door and this was the cure.

Worth a shot. I'll try it tonight.

OK, well, that was an odyssey. Here’s everything I did:
1) Recode General Module and LCM. No change.
2) Replace door lock actuator (when that fails, you get all kinds of bizarre behavior). No change. But I fixed a few things that had been done wrong by a previous mechanic, so not all bad.
3) Wracked my brain for a while.
4) Unplugged the headlights because that’s the electrical device I worked on before all of this happened.
5) Unplugged the AVIN. LOCKS AND WINDOWS WORK NORMALLY!!!!
6) Reset AVIN: No change.
7) Unplug CANBUS decoder: No change.
8) Unplug Resler model. EVERYTHING WORKS NORMALLY WITH THE AVIN PLUGGED IN!

Conclusion: It was the Resler IBUS module.

That was annoying.

Did a little bit more digging now that I’ve isolated the problem.

IBUS app reported corrupt firmware in the Resler module. Flashed it with the latest, and it stopped the weird window behavior.
