rattles are not covered under cpo, go ahead and sue them, your expecting a perfect car, this is not reasonable. when you get off your high horse, let us know.

unfortunately, normal wear and tear aren't part of CPO, including rattles. if they find an actual damaged part, that's a different story.

it's part of buying used. you save money, but don't expect it to be like a new car.

From fading memory, I think that was the first year of the Pano roof; thus the potential for niggling fit issues are higher...
from reading all the probs and complaints the OP has had with his X, I would rec'd dumping it and getting another brand.

Hey, no need to bash each other... killcrap is a BMW tech as am I so he knows first hand that the rattles aren't coveres under CPO, and you are threatening to sue for a rattle?

It just sounds like you were typing while mad to me. And I wouldn't think killcrap would let any problems just sit untouched with his X5, he'd simply find and fix the problems and get on with his day.

I'd still ask the guys at hassel if they could look at the rattle since you're already going to be in there for other work, they may hook you up on the shops dollar if you have a good relationship with them. But if they can't do anything, I'd suggest simply taking measures to fix the rattle yourself. There are many threads on here about pano sunroof rattles that can give you ideas on where to check and what people have done to fix them. In your case it may be as simple as a 3" piece of felt tape.

I have a pano roof with my 04, the OP seems to have a really young X5 with only 21K.

OP try taking it to an independent shop, maybe they can find the problem, plus I'm guessing that the roof cassette is loose somewhere and maybe it can be fixed.

i have a very good relationship with the dealership and everyone is very nice and i am very nice to everyone even though the last s/a wanted to charge me for the power steering line hoses that will be replaced on 11/19 until i showed him the cpo pamphlet that they are covered and he still didnt believe me and asked the service manager that was standing in the garage area right in front of me why would i lie....i feel he should have known that but i let it go...i am not in the business of breaking chops nor do i want to..but my experience with the x has not been that great...i apologize if i came off like that but it has been a frustrating experience...rob

Rob - I think a lot of BMW owners struggle with a love hate relationship with their cars. Over the past year my 2001 4.4 X5 with 70K miles needed a new transmission, front calipers, valve cover gaskets, valley pan gasket, intake gasket, waterpump, oil separator, etc. I have dumped in over 8K dollars in repairs alone. There are many days I think of selling the X5 but then I drive it for an hour and think this is the greatest car I have ever owned. Consider driving your X5 like dating a cheerleader when you were in highscool, sure it costs more to maintain but it is worth it.
