No more amber corners!

My first mod to our X5. A simple one but does change the look of ours to be unique. I've got something else lined up too, but installation depends on when I get my tools. (Hint: 90* drill attachment)

I hope you guys know where I'm going.

During the installation.

Bam! Looks just like its younger brother, the E70.

Sneaky picture for what might come later on the year.

Unique I like it

I have the smoked tail lights...and I have replaced the amber bulb with a red one to match the LEDs

Solid red? I like it. How is your blinker visibility?

Thanks for all the positive comments! I tried to get a picture of the blinkers on but my camera phone can't capture it right. You can still see it perfectly fine in daylight and at night since this isn't that dark of a tint. I have a lot of this tint left, as I verged away from my original idea of covering the whole light.

The 3M Carbon Fiber Vinyl may be used for parts of the exterior. It may also be used for the interior unless I get some carbon fiber fabric instead, as fabric would be much cheaper. I tried to wrap my iPod with the brown-ish tinted carbon fiber vinyl and it kind of worked. If I had a slightly bigger piece, say 1 in length wise more, I would be showing you guys a picture of it. I don't want to use my larger piece just yet and this stuff is so cool!

Nice one. Gives your X a unique look. How about a couple of close up pics?
Weasel did a Photoshop of exactly what you've done some time ago. That looked cool as well.

What exterior parts you talking about re C/Fiber?

I got the tint from eBay. You only need a 12"x12" sheet if you're only covering the amber/clear part. I got a 12"x24" sheet since I planned to cover the whole thing, and my first sheet had a small mark on it so I am getting sent another sheet. Basically, I have a huge excess of red tint now. Got to start tinting all the things I can find...maybe our 3 series is next! I'll try and get better pictures tomorrow. My camera phone is horrible, and my point 'n shoot isn't much better at all. I'll try my best though!

I guess it is no good to play guessing games with my upcoming mods. I have front and rear mud flaps, but I'm waiting for a 90* Dremel attachment to install everything without removing the wheels. I'm going mod crazy since my parents have another X5 to use while I'm in the garage working on this one!

The 3M vinyl may be used to cover the interior wood trim, but I may choose carbon fiber fabric instead for the cost. Since our X5 is non-sport, I want something that resembles the Shadowline trim of the sport package and this vinyl may be the best quality and look the best. I'll be covering all the window trim and door pillars; it will be fully reversible once I want to change to something else too, but the price is an issue. I have found rolls of 8"x30' carbon fiber vinyl, but this is nowhere near the as realistic as the 3M vinyl. This stuff even has texture!
