Spare Tyre (Wheel)
I just received my 4.8is today, and I am wondering that the spare tyre (wheel) is not a 168, is just a generic wheel. Is this ok, or and error ????. I always thought that all the 5 wheels was identical, and not a generic wheel. Could you send me a picture of a spare tyre (wheel) of your X5 to compare it with mine. Thanks a lot. |

That's the standard setup. The standard spare tire on the 3.0 and 4.4 is a 17" rim. However, the 17" rim won't fit on the 4.6is or the 4.8is because of the clearance issues with the brake calipers. Accordingly, you have the spare tire setup that you have.
The 20" rim (as well as the 18" and 19") are too wide to allow them to fit in the spare tire well.

In a 4.8is...all 4 wheels are not identicle. You have staggared wheels and tires...so even the front and rears are different. I dont think the wheel well is deep enough even for a front wheel with tire..so they put a temp spare in there to get the job done.
