Did you GOOG this operation?
Not saying they suck, but there are several sites/blogs on web that suggest it may not be the best aftermkt warranty operation, on the planet... Have you gotten the paperwork yet? Paid up front? GL,mD

I wish I could remember the one I dealt with but, they were no good. I had an '01 Ford Windstar after the lease was up I bought the car with about 50,000 miles on it. I bought a 5 yr, 100,000 mile, 3rd party warranty for $3,200. about 10,000 miles into it the dealer informs me the heads were warped. $2400. I contacted the warranty company and they gave me 10 reasons why this was not their obligation, they wouldn't pay. I got a lawyer friend involved and he said it would cost more to prosecute. I can't remember the company anymore but, if I would have kept the $3200 I would been ahead by $800 after the repair.
I will never never buy a warranty that isn't backed up by a local dealer. You need someone local to pound on when there is a problem... someone that cares about you as a customer and cares about their word of mouth reputation. Walk away now before they get you for more of your hard earned cash. Last edited by Ghost-Flame; 11-21-2009 at 08:39 PM. |

In the Dec 2009 issue of Car and Driver, there's a nice write up about 3 major players in extended warranty - Mogi, US Fidelis and StopRepairBills.com, also a glimpse of how they sell these contracts.
Here's a link from "St. Louis Today" if you wanna check out the article Car and Driver secret shopper stings area service-contract brokers | The Savvy Consumer Blog | STLtoday |

Well that article doesn't go into how the claims are handled when you actually have a repair.
When I bought the contract for the Windstar above I had a similar experience as the article writer. My sales person called me out of the blue at home offered me a very high priced warranty for my "risky" high mileage Windstar , 50,000. When I wouldn't bite she lowered the price about $500 and added 1 year. When I didn't bite she put me on hold and a manager came on the phone and chopped $1,000 off the price to arrive at $3200. I thought I was getting something good that would insure against a major repair... no such result. there's a sucker born evey minute. never again unless it is by the dealer selling me the used car. Like Monty Python says, Run away, Run away! |
