Buyer Beware

I am kinda new to BMW's. I've owned this x5 about 10 months.

I have been doing all the repairs and maintenance. Today I had a shock and a rescue ... so to speak.
My door lock actuators in the Driver side front and rear appear to not be working. This morning the dealer quoted me $1200 per door to diagnose and make any needed repairs, labor and parts.

We have a real good Indy BMW Mechanic in town. So I called and he told me the absolute worst case scenerio is between $300 and $400 per door. WTF!!

I was expecting half to two-thirds of the dealer cost but, 1/4 to 1/3???

The dealer didn't even have the decency to conceal his personal idenity with a mask!!

Buyer Beware... check those service and repair prices!
