Odd drivers side mirror action

Seems that it's happening more often than not, but my drivers side mirror keeps literally moving itself inward, like it's on an old preset. I have to keep hitting the seat preset button and it'll readjust itself back to the position I programmed it. Lastnight I noticed it was tilted inwards again, and I literally had to hold the preset button and the mirror moved outwards, bumping itself like 3-4 times before I finally stopped where it was supposed to be, like it was thinking about it. Any ideas?

The software can be very annoying. For a while both my mirrors would dip instead of the passenger side only. It did not happen all the time but stopped after the LKM was changed and the vehicle was reprogrammed for the new LKM unit.
And some people trust these vehicles to park by themselves?

Is this something I can just reflash myself if I ever get around to downloading the software and getting the cables to make my own in-home BMW laptop for servicing?

Not an expert on that aspect but there are a number of "programming" threads so somebody here must have more info. You may need to contact them direct via IM.

I have the same issue with BOTH mirrors....I have to hit the seat preset to put them in the right spot 6/10 times I drive. It is really annoying, but I'm used to it (that's kind of sad).

I'm not positive but I think it has something to do with the Key...Pay attention to the mirror mine usually are in the right position until I hit unlock and it tries to set them to the last key setting, which is wrong very often.

I thought about that, but it happens w/ both keys. I moved the mirror around tonight, programmed it into a slightly different location and shut the car off. After I gave her a stern talking to and giving her a night to think about it I'm gonna move everything all around tomorrow morning, hit the preset and we'll see what happens if she doesn't remember.

Sound like you went to the Basil Fawlty "School of Car Education and Corrective Punishment."

I have something similar on my x5.
I hit the button to bring the mirrors in but they don't stay.
and only the driver side comes in.
am I missing something?
perhaps I should duct tape the button so that it stays down?

My steering wheel is starting to do the same thing now. Is there some module I could pull out and clean/di-electric grease the contacts?
