Cheap LED License plate bulbs that DONT set off wanrings

Made a great find today.

I have tried bulbs from a few sites online that do set off warnings in my 2002 x5 4.4i.

Gave these a shot, and no warnings, plus they are cheaper than anywhere I have seen!

2 x 18 LED 39mm White Xenon Festoon Bulbs Light 12V:eBay Motors (item 230410161845 end time Dec-15-09 23:43:37 PST)

I am assuming it has something to do with the fact that these have 18 led's per bulb and the other festoon style bulbs I tried had no more than 9..Who knows.

They look good,unfortunately I have been put off from buying any more Led bulbs to replace any originals.I say this because ,I bought 18 led bulbs for the interior and a few weeks later ,some bulbs only have half the leds.I bought some 36 led bulbs for my reverse,stop lights...now I only have less than 20!
Furthermore,my license plate led bulbs started to melt...Ah...and yes!I obviously get the no bulb warnings!
Maybe I been unlucky with my Ebay suppliers...but I given up

Are they the same as the e46 bulbs, do we use the standard C5W replacement bulb?

If you go to autoillumination, you can get them for cheaper. I've been buying these bulbs for years and use them on all my BMW's for the license plate bulbs. I pay around $6 per bulb. They're great!
