I would think it would work. But I've got NAV and that's the exact part I bought. It's SO "plug and play", it's incredibly easy to install. But for someone not having NAV and DSP I can't answer that
I'm sure it is answered somewhere else.

Just put this kit in my 2003 X5 (No NAV or DSP). Not quite plug-and-play for me as I had to swap some wires around, but it was still easy enough. I put the Aux jack into the existing hole in the ashtray (like most folks do).
Read Moxie's post here carefully!! It'll save you some hassles.

I installed a couple weeks ago - - 05 E53 4.4 DSP non Nav - - Very easy install, took around 20-25min once I did my research around the web...time included finding tools, appropriate drill bits...
Pulled the vol knob off the radio, used appropriate hex wrench to unlatch, hinge, and remove radio out of the way; found the empty plug in the back.. plugged cable in. Removed climate control (easy, just push it out) for more room to maneuver. Ran the cable to the ashtray where I drilled a small hole above the CIGARETTE EXTINGUISHER, and a larger hole in the back of the ashtray to feed the cable through...mounted the aux jack in the small hole, and that was it!! $45 on amazon well spent. Select 'AUX' with mode button and begin listening to your iPhone/Pod in your X. Enjoy Last edited by newdezign; 02-10-2010 at 10:37 PM. |

MY X came with a small metal tab mounted on the left hand side of the the ashtray with a penholder, which is just a cone shaped hole that you can keep a pen ready to go...I guess. BMW OEM. Made for a great flat surface to mount the input jack to. When I get a chance I will post a photo.
