Depends on the smell of the white smoke!Does it smell of burnt oil or raw fuel?
Since you say ,its only 3-5 secs, this rules out condensation.!
If its water accumulated in the cylinder chamber, you will notice a drop in your coolant level.
Raw fuel can be a leaking injector?
Do you notice this overnight or everytime you start it up?

White smoke for only 3 or 5 seconds! I would not worry. What was the outside temp when it happened? Also white smoke until the engine warms up in cold weather is normal as long as it does not keep smoking too long. Check your coolant level though.

thanks guys for all of your inputs.

just a smell of fuel/ oil. really can't tell the difference between burnt and raw.
Since you say ,its only 3-5 secs, this rules out condensation.!
that's good to hear!
If its water accumulated in the cylinder chamber, you will notice a drop in your coolant level.
when i have a siginificant drop in coolant level, i get a warning sign. however, haven't gotten any.
Raw fuel can be a leaking injector?
Do you notice this overnight or everytime you start it up?
only over night. and it only lasts for 2-3 secs. and the temperature was around 30f.

I had this happen once in the middle of the summer and was very worried. This was like 5 or 6 months ago. Hasn't happened since.
