Help with battery drain?

Hi All,

I've got an annoying battery drain with a new-to-me 2006 3.0.

1. First time - battery completely dead after parked during 7 day vacation- I replaced it, everything fine. (probably was the original battery)

2. Second time - 3 months later, new battery 80% dead after parked during 5 day trip - just barely able to jump it.

Dealer says new battery is fine and "nothing is drawing power when parked". So, I basically have a car I can't leave at the airport - argh.

Any suggestions? Search isn't really helping other than saying it's not uncommon - fan isn't running when parked, no lights on, etc. Any suggestions for what to have the dealer focus on?

Thnx much

You could also check you tailgate to see if it was properly shut. One of the latches on the bottom of mine didn't catch and I think the motor ran and killed the battery. Of course you wouldn't know know if you already opened and closed the tailgate. Others things to check is your bluetooth/tcu. If your light is red or doesn't come on at all you might have an issue there. I pulled fuse 73 and I've been ok so far, I think.

Hey spyder, got a question for ya...

If blutooth is on and phone is paired up and all is working well, should there be a green light on at all times next to the telephone sign on the console?

Thanks for the suggestions...

Pretty sure I get green only when I"m actually on the phone call - tends to have no light otherwise...are we thinking that's a problem?

That is working correctly. Start your car with you phone in the house or something and see how it react. The red light should 'flash' for about 30 sec and then go out. If it stays on, you have a problem like me.

When you are paired and making a phone call it should be green. When you are paired it you aren't doing anything, it should be blank.
