can this function be changed?

Hi everybody,

have changed my bus-like steerring wheel to a sport wheel and now I am missing something. Curious if I can fix that....

On my old wheel I had the button for circulating air which is missing on the new one. On the new I have speech control which I do not have in my car.

Is it possible to change something (what) to have - for example - the circulating air function on the speech control button of the new wheel?

Would be VERY helpful.

Regards

I'm sure it can be done, but it will need someone who knows how to do custom coding. I'd be VERY surprised if BMW would do it.

You need a different button also, I think. Does your old steering wheel also have the Speech button on it?
BTW, Nice one. I would also like to change mine. How much did it cost?

Most simple would be to have a simple ibus reader dongle after the steering wheel buttons, that intercepts the key press for voice and sends out the one for air rec. instead. Not sure if you wanna bother, I myself don't even touch the air rec. button on the climate board.

I was more thinking to change something inside the button which sends the command - not sure if that would be possible. Any idea anybody?

I don't remember exactly how the E53 steering wheel buttons were implemented, but every button should be a resistor. According to the resistance of the circuit, a certain ibus telegram is then sent out, which translates to the specific button press event. If they work like that, measure the old one and try to replace the new one.
