Air conditioning problem

Hi guys,

I have a 2003 E53 X5 with a climate control issue. The A/C works fine for about 20 mins or so, managing the temps as per settings, after that, no air comes from the cabin vents at all, although the fan remains running and the A/C appears to be working. My independent repairer mentioned it could be the doors/flaps in the system. I have tried adjusting the control settings from auto to manual (all settings either randomly or in sequence) with no success. If I turn the engine off and wait about 10 mins then everything works normally again for a while. is this something anyone else has experienced? Any thoughts would be appreciated as its summer here in aust and 35c in Melbourne today.

Cheers

David

PS I posted this in the Aust thread too.

no, it just seems to shut off the airflow to the cabin. there is a little cool air coming in from somewhere, leaking in around the heater controls and radio console but nothing from any of the vents.

The a/c runs continuously but i think that's because the temp sensor inside the car is telling the unit the cabin temp is too warm for the selected setting.
