So who has auto start / Vipper?

I was wondering how many people on here use Viper Auto Start on there E53?

I just met somebody next to an autozone with an 02 X5, guy started his X off of his iPhone, im not gonna lie... that looked awesome....

Any people on here with it? If so, any faults/complaints?

I asked the guy if he had any issues with it, he said when it was first installed he used to get SelfLevel_Suspension error but he said they fixed it by changing something with the timing of it somehow....

I've personally installed a Viper 5500 and 791xv into 2 different X5's so far. They went fine, just used bypass modules to get around any possiblities of issues down the line. I'm sure it could be done without them, but I just felt it was in the better interest of the customer to do it that way. Modules are not cheap though...I believe 180 or so for the remote start immobilizer module at least.

Hey Charlie, I have a question about your post. When you installed those remote starter. Was the factory remote entry device still active? I would love remote start on my car aslong as I'll be able to use the factory remote entry.

My X5 had a Viper remote start installed when we bought (used). It does have a separate remote for the starter, but you can still use the factory remote to lock/ unlock the doors.

The only issue I have had is the previous owner warned me not to mix both systems. So in other words, I shouldn't lock the doors with the factory remote and then start and unlock with the Viper remote. I have done this a few times and when I put the key in the ignition and put into gear, the car stalled. I figured out I can correct by doing a lock/ unlock with the Viper remote and then it will start up fine with the key.

You can purchase a Viper 4203V Remote Starter unit that only starts the engine through a remote and does not have any security features. Therefore, you wont have to worry about the factory alarm and Viper Alarm mixing up directives.

Typically, when I install an alarm w/ remote start functions on a vehicle that has factory keyless entry controls built into the key, I'll connect the factory arm/disarm to the Viper alarm module. Therefore, whenever they use the Viper remote, the factory alarm disables/enables in sync with each other and vice versa.
