Is 21 mpg highway low enough to suspect a problem?
I've got an '06 3.0. I'm getting about 14-15 mpg around town which hadn't concerned me that much since it's hilly terrain and stop and go. But I just took my first long highway trip and only got 21-22 over 400 miles with two adults in the car and cruise set at 65. Is that just life with a heavy car and smallish motor? Or low enough to suspect an issue? Thnx |

I averaged 17mpg highway this past weekend with a roofrack and 2 snowboards on it. I am starting to think it may be a bit too low even with the wind resistance...

huh?? What mpg are you expecting? You're already getting 2mpg OVER what the car is "supposed" to get:

That's about right. You're driving a 5000lb vehicle. I am more concerned about cruising range than gas mileage. 2-4 mpg isn't too significant to me and I really didn't buy a SAV for mileage. I actually get around 19 mpg on the freeway doing 75-80 with a 4.4...very acceptable to me.

Whoops, I withdraw the question.
Had it in my head it was rated at 24 highway for some reason, but obviously 20 looks about right. |
