Lucas gas additives fuel system cleaner? good/bad?

hey guys,

was just wondering if it makes sense to continue using the lucas oil products, mainly the fuel system cleaner. i put some in the gas tank every time i change the oil...should i do it more/less frequently?

has anyone had car issues because of it? just wondering. thanks!

Ethanol does a good job of cleaning, so I'm more interested in lubrication of the fuel system because of E10. Talked to a mechanic and he recommended using Marvel Mystery Oil or something similar for keeping the pump and injectors lubed up. It actually cleans also.

I heard of pump seizing problems in the 5 series but not yet in the X5s. Just for prevention, I use MMO at every fill up w/ 93 octane and have had good luck.

Never use ethanol in a German engine. Our corn based ethanol is the worse thing you can do to your BMW.

I talked to a life long BMW owner and sales person. Guy has been driving a BMW since the 50s. He said he used a Techron or Shell injector cleaner every 10 to 15k. I asked him if this was correct as my Mercedes states to NEVER use fuel system cleaners, just using 91 or 93 octane should be sufficient. He said BMW says the same thing, but none of his customers or himself has ever had a problem using a high quality injector cleaner.

Just remember, never use ethanol.

just use top tier gas. Shell / Chevron gas stations are the two biggies.
