Most shops are going to charge diagnostic. Usually you can apply the money charged for the diagnostic towards the actual repair.

It may be a little drive, but I would highly recommend The Premier Los Angeles BMW MINI Service and Repair Center.

You also might try listing your specs and issue. You might get some free diagnostic info from the forum.

Owns a shop called John's Foreign Car Service.

He's the only mechanic I've ever fully trusted to fix only what needs to be fixed, and nothing else (I've been driving for 30 years). He is extremely competent, fast, and very reasonable $$. He's been maintaining my X and my 911 for 6 years. Highest recommendation.

I probably would have traded my X a long time ago if I hadn't found him because the stealer would have made the repairs and maintenance so ridiculous.

Does he open on Saturdays? There seems to be plenty of good Indy shops around OC, but almost impossible to find someone to work on Saturdays

Owner John is pretty nice guy. Very knowledgeable. He was master tech. in new century bmw sometime back.
