ABS / Brake Replacement

Hi guys,
Found out my three lights on the dashboard are due the the abs sensor. If i remove and clean this will it be any better as we have had a lot of snow recently, also i have check brake lining come on now and again, will this affect this sensor??

When i replace the rake pads will i have to replace the sensor as it only appears now and again, so will new pads move it away from the disk??

Any help would be great. I have the 4.4i 2000 with 130k on the clock. Never missed a beat!!

You will need to replace the abs sensor, cleaning never seems to cure the fault. Use genuine sensors as the aftermaket ones are very poor.

Once the sensor has come on for the pads, the wire is damaged so you need to replace the pad wire at the same time as the pads.

Any idea on price for genuine sensor? I have seen some on ebay for about £35.

As with the pads is it better to use BMW or are they most the same,

thanks for quick reply!

I wouldn't even consider non factory sensors after a recent experience of 2 out of 3 brand new ones being faulty. I believe new OEM ones are about £60.00.

I like stock pads but a great saving can be had with Mintex pads which I have at the moment and work fine. I keep away from the likes of EBC due to the excessive disc wear rates they cause and negligable improvement.
