Tranny Lurch

I have the variant of lurch #1 seen here:

Jaguar S-Type ZF Gearbox Lurch fault

It is pretty mild, but clearly present when coming to a "slow" stop. If I stop "hard" the braking prevents the truck from lurching, but the downside to that is it is not a smooth, gradual, comfortable stop. My question comes here...

The tranny otherwise is butter smooth and seems to be in great working order. Do I take it in under CPO? Is there a true fix for this?

Worthy of note is that the truck does have Dinan tranny software and intake (done by authorized dealer). I still LOVE this truck even with this little hiccup..

I took mine into the dealer for this under CPO. The second time they replaced the trans (after opening a case of some sort w/BMW NA lead tech people -- forget what it is called...).

Just be nice. Ask the service writer if he's heard of this before. If he hasn't, have him ask the shop foreman. If he hasn't, take them both for a short ride, demonstrating the issue. This will go a long ways towards convincing them that there is a problem.

Do a search under "rough downshift". You'll find more info about it. I took my 03 X5 4.6is to the BMW dealership to see if some reprogramming was needed... sadly, my tranny was bad enough to warrant a replacement. (NOTE: I also got the occasional "TRANS FAILSAFE" message.)

If you have CPO, BMW should cover it. Good luck!
