Hi all;
I recently purchased light poplar wood to replace the dark burlwood trim. I read and re-read the instructions for removing the center console, but I think I've royally screwed up big time! I need your help. I got the thing loose, but there were wires leading to the rear heating unit, cigarette lighter and heated seats switches. I could only find one connection that I could remove, so as I'm trying to lift the console, the remaining connected wires are preventing me from going more than a few inches. I read that i needed to remove 2 screws from the rear unit, and they were quite a problem (assuming I was doing the correct screws). That didn't help one bit, so I just started removing every screw I could find, but with no difference. I'm VERY concerned I won't be able to put this thing back together! Meanwhile, I had the X in "D" to facilitate the removal, but when I put it back in Park I couldn't get the key out! I really had to work to get the console in a position where the key would come out. I'm at my wit's end, and will probably end up paying a stealer to finish this "easy" project. I just don't understand what I'm missing here... those of you who've done this make it seem rather easy. But I wonder if having the cold weather package (and heated rear seats) is complicating things?? Geez, all I wanted to do was change out my trim ![]() ![]() Any suggestions before I have a stoke??
