skid plate - doesn't fit Sport Model?

This guy on craigslist is claiming the skid plate he bought doesn't fit his X5 because he has the sport model...

Can anyone validate this claim? I have a sport model and want to buy a skid plate and get it painted the same colour as my X5, but don't want to get it and have this happen.

I'm pretty sure there is only 1 kind of skid plate that BMW makes for the E53.

+1. I think what the seller meant when he said he had a sport was that he has an iS, so therefore it would not fit. It makes sense, since that wraps up exactly where the sport bodywork is. Your 4.4 should fit it fine.

Maybe the seller has the Aero kit body?

He hasn't got back to me on my inquiry, but I based on what you guys have said, I bet he has an IS model, either 4.6 or 4.8.

I have a 2001 X5 with the Sport option, which I'm pretty sure this will fit. I'm not going to pay $300 for it (it's painted the wrong colour), but it would be easier for me to buy his than get it shipped up from the USA.

Thanks to all!

just buy it. theres one skid plate made for the x5 and it fits all x5's. maybe some customizing has to be done for the 4.6 models.

Don't buy it.

Dealer has it listed for $250 shipped w/o paint.

For some reason the parts guy had no idea what I was talking about and it didnt show up on the computer until I gave him the part number I found on xoutpost.

It will fit on directly to all E53 X5's.... For 4.6is you need to customizing it, cuts, chopp etc...
