Recommendation for Windshield Wipers

I added this to another tread, but am so pleased I thought I would add a new one here for everybody.

I found great windshield wipers (finally).

I had a variety of noises and bad wipers using new "inserts" from BMW for the originals. Even brand new I had issues. I recently replaced all three with new complete "Blades" and I am very happy with BOSCH MICRO EDGE from the regular old ordinary auto parts stores. There were only about $10. I also did so on a 3 Series Coupe and a third AWD Porsche that is my "ski" car and have been in serious Ski Season with lots or snow and lots or rain. And filthy "sanded" roads around Lake Tahoe NV / CA. I am very pleased!!!!

They installed right out of the boxes with no fussing, and no adapters or parts.. I just picked the "length" and bought them.

They do lack the "WIND SPOILERS" you may have but I have not noticed and issue, thought maybe that is ther for high speed. No problem at say 85MPH (i don't much go faster than that). The spoiler may be able to retrofit to the new one but I will probably not bother. Good Luck

I bought the bosch icon's. Autozone had a buy two get $8. off deal. Very nice. I also bought a rear window bosch the same as your model. All were for my X5 and work great.

I like the Icons as well. I have the Micro Edge's on my e36 and while they do a fine job, they didn't last nearly as long as the Icons on my X5. I also like the built-in spoiler of the Icons. Seems to help in very windy conditions as well, not just vehicle speed. The other thing about the Icons is that due to their design they seem to make better/more even contact over the entire surface of the blade.

As soon as I have time I'm swapping to Icons. I had them on my last car, and comparing the two, the stock ones don't stand a chance.

I've had the same Bosch Icon blades on my X5 for over three years now. They still work as awesomely as they did the first day I installed them!

I just put the ICONS on my X, the passenenger side one does not make full contact towards the bottom of the windshield. Some people say to get a size smaller then the ones listed in the catalog to reduce this. I can live with a small corner in the lower passenger area of the windsheild not being wiped I guess.

Mine does that as well, but it is only about an inch in the very bottom of the passenger side of the window. Fairly inconsequential, IMO. It works like money everywhere else.

I also have only used Bosch. I usually buy one set when I get a car, new or used, and never change them. They last years and years for me. I have enough wax on the windshield, speeds of over 30mph dries it rite off.

I have begun to switch over on my X3. BMW original refills used to be fine when they made them specifically for each model in Germany and for the longest time I was happy with them. Then one day, they switched over to a standardised blade that you have to break/cut, and they're made in Mexico. I'm sure this saves costs but the quality just wasn't there. And after they completely froze over on my last ski trip, I opted to try out the Bosch Icons. I currently only have it on my right side (haven't installed the left) but so far so good.
