eBay Running Boards

I was wondering if anybody has purchased and installed the $220 running boards being sold on eBay. My impression is that they're strictly for aesthetics and should not be used as a step.

Has anybody had some previous experience with these they can share? The part i'm talking about is linked below. Thanks.

X5 BMW BRUSHED ALUMINUM RUNNING BOARDS STEP BOARD E53 : eBay Motors (item 310197584005 end time Feb-05-10 13:24:56 PST)

Unfortunately if you see them next to the OEM ones you'll be pissed you bought them that being said I just went through the same thing going back and forth weather it was worth spending more and got OEMs instead even through there a sm fortune lol

Thanks for all the advice - it essentially confirmed what I was thinking. If anybody has a source where I can get OEM running boards on the cheaper side, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks again.

Your local junkyard, e38.org BMW 7-series information and links has links to BMW specific junkyards or try Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market.
