Reset the rear ride height by disconnecting the battery?

I have an 02 4.4 with rear air suspension. I did have the dealer lower the rear to match the front with their machine and they charged me $260 to do it.

I remember reading somewhere that you can reset the height back to the stock by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery so it goes back to the factory setting.

Can anyone verify that before I disconnect the battery?

Thanks in advance,
Elliot

no it will not work, the height is coded into the EHC control unit, that is why the control unit must be in transport mode to set the ride height.

The EHC nightmare.

I have a smaller shop here in Milwaukee that only works on BMW's and they are Certified BMW Mechanics. They have all of the tools and everything else needed to service my vehicle and many others. With that said, last week I went in there to figure out why I have the "Inactive Suspension" warning on the cluster display. He hooked up the computer and found that the Rear Right Sensor was not functioning correctly - Something with low voltage. He replaced it and it still was not the culprit. Stuck the old one back in, reset the ride height ( I have a Sport X5 ) and told me he would look into other scenarios and get back to me.

Since last week, my car has reverted back to it's bumpy self. Not as bad as it was prior to resetting ride height, but it's very noticeable. I am stumped, the local dealer just wants to charge me a huge diagnosis fee and I have already paid out over a Hundo so far just trying to diagnose what the issue is. The mechanic hooked the computer up to the "Brains" of the car and still couldn't figure out what was going on. Couldn't reset it or anything.

I have reviewed all of the posts on this board and have come to the conclusion that no one, not even BMWNA has a clue as to what the problem with this vehicle is. I have seen that it's:
  • The Air Supply Control Unit
  • EHC needs replacement
  • Encode Air Supply unit
  • Rear Tail Lights

And a whole host of others. What the heck is going on here? What is the problem? Has anyone cured this problem or is there a solution? I find it very hard to believe that there are numerous solutions to one problem! Any response would be greatly appreciated as at this point.
