Idle RPM for 4.6iS

At what RPM does your 4.6 idle? Mine seems to drop just under the little 'dot' above the 0 (when the engine is at operating temperature).
Is that normal? Shouldn't it idle on the 'dot'?

Thanks!

Thats not normal. It is supposed to be around 700rpm. I would check for vacuum leaks. Mine did the same thing so I went ahead and replaced every plastic and rubber piece on and around the motor and it ran flawlessly even at 190,000 miles as the current owner has.

Thanks for this...
You didn't by any chance make a list of all the rubber parts with their OEM part numbers you changed?

I did not, sorry, but from what I can remember it was the usual vaqlve cover, timing cover gaskets, all intake manifold gaskets, PCV valve on the back of the intake, valley pan gasket, all of the vacuum hoses, and all of the collant hoses. I'm most likely forgetting something though.

Much appreciated thank you nevertheless

700 rpms is about right. Check for fault codes. Engine idle smooth? Runs normally? Performs normally? Any other symptoms?

I get that infamous 'lurch' when coming to a stop, but only in Auto(comfort) mode. Diagnostic is showing an error in the torque converter. The clutch also 'kicks' a bit in sport mode...

I'm getting a transmission software update this coming week. Hopefully that helps...
