As far as I know the only thing that changed after the 04 facelift is that the diesel engine had a few upgrades giving higher power and torque levels. Post upgrade, all X5's have xDrive and 6 speed ZF box. My 06 3.0D has the last iteration of the diesel engine fitted to the E53 with power levels of 160KW and 500NM. I think this is the same engine fitted to the first generation E70 3.0D, although that too has now gone thru another upgrade.
In my opionon it is worth looking for for the 160KW engine as the power jumps with each update were quite considerable. If you are looking for options the 3.0D does not normally come standard with air suspension and in my opinion this is worth having if you tow or carry heavy loads. Rear only self leveling air suspension is fine. |
