rear upper control arms - not covered by cpo or ext maint?
Told I need to rear upper control arms, left and right. About $1,400 for parts/install, alignment and tax. SA said it isn't covered by the cpo or extended maintenance... what's the point of these warranties? Shouldn't this be covered? I have a quote from my indie for $850 using oem parts. Any other brands I should consider? Thanks in advance. |

replacement parts
just a question, I have an '02 e53, and I am going to tighten up the rear. I was told rear upper was loose, but it seems like the torsion bar/ rear front ( the straight one) upper bar has a little wiggle. does anyone have experience or opinions on replacement parts for control arms and tension struts
autotrust has a 3 year warranty- but are they any good, is febi better? febi -i could not find guiding suspension link/upper tension bar, i assume their control arms are good, but is it better or as good as the $400 oem part? mevotech seems cheap also any experience with shock seats westar, febi, gabriel, lemfoerder? a few bucks more cost is always easier than ripping it out again! |

i just attempted to replace rear upper control arm according to bently manual....after deactivating air bags, i tried to remove arm, but way to much tensoin. i finally searched for air bags in the schematics and found there are springs there instead!!!!!!!! i assume compressing the springs will be the same as deactivating the air system |

![]() Did you also consider replacing the lower bushing on the lower A-arm? I've seen those go soft before, and there was a good Youtube video showing how to compress the air-spring and then release tension on the lower bushing and check for play. |
