Does a short-shift kit exist for the 6 speed transmission?

The title says it all...Does anyone know if I can get a short shift kit for my 2006 6 speed? Anything off the shelf that may work (M3, M5, M Coupe, et al)?

Thanks,
Chris

The Autowerkes.com website shows they sell a UUC Evo3 short shifter for the BMW X5 3.0 for $195. UUC stopped production on the X5 short shift kit quite awhile ago so it's possible this is either new old stock or the website has not been updated. It's advisable to call them first to see if they actually have it in stock and make sure you check for fitment. I don't know if a short shift kit for the earlier X5 5-spd will work on the 6-spd, but it might. Call UUC (www.uucmotorwerks.com/) to get more information.

If you look on the group buys section, lionkang was looking for people to do a group buy. Evidently, if he found enough buyers, UUC would start up a limited production of the short shift kits. But there hasn't been much response.

Hope this helps.

Asawa: EXCELLENT info...I don't see why the 5 speed short-shift wouldn't work assuming the geometry of the linkage was the same for the 5 & 6 speed. I'll contact UUC.

All E53 manual transmission cars (3.0 gasoline and diesel) have the same shifter lever, regardless of 5 or 6 speed transmission. The part number has changed a few times, but it's the same for ALL manual transmission E53 cars (3.0, the V-8's never had a manual transmission).
