9.5/10.5's vs. 10/11's for E53

Hey All,

I'm a bit confused after reading thru some of these threads. I'm looking to purchase some 20" wheels, reps or OEM's for my '06 X and have seen different posts.

Am I understanding this correctly that with OEM wheels I would need to purchase 9.5/10.5's to fit correctly and 10/11's for replicas? Are the tires the same for both of them?

Also, what exactly does it mean when the wheels are offset? I've been toying with the idea of getting style 214's in either OEM or replicas. I also read that I would have to get a hubcentric ring for the hubs in order for them to fit? Is it safe to run a '07 wheel set on an E53?
How does the hubcentric rings work?

Thanks for helping out a noobie X owner.

9.5/10.5 are the factory withs. if u dont have the flairs i wood stick with that. the 10 and 11 are a half inch wider. u can run the e70 rims on an e53 but u do need the ring to line up the hubs and so u dont get shaking when u drive. all rims or offset pretty much. there is pluss and minus which is which side of the center of the rim.

The offset is the measure from the center of the wheel (width-wise) to the hub mounting surface.

What are the flares? Is that the aerodynamic kit? Will the 10/11's stick out too far on the stock 4.4? In the accessories mag is states that the 168 and 177 (9.5/10.5) wheels are only compatible with the aerodynamic kit. Does that mean all wheels that size won't work on a stock 4.4?

Can anyone enlighten me on this.
Thanks

the 9.5 and the 10 will fit and line up perfect. if u go with the 1/2 inch bigger u will need the 4.8is flares like mine have or the areo kit.
