How's your radiator holding up

Just making 1 final checklist and checking it twice ;-)

Xtended wrnty is coming up in Dec. Plan to do a visit to a Indy now and let any nig-nags crop up from them-November, for my final *under xtended warnty* vists.

Suffice to say, it's been pretty solid for me .

100k miles on my 04 3.0i....Radiator seems to be holding up well for me.

I wonder why others have more unhappier experiences with the OEM radiator?

Because they consist of same failure prone plastic that the rest of BMW cooling system components are made of. Many of which fail anytime after about after about 60k. Mine failed with under under 100k miles.

I have never touched my radiator, tubes, or expansion tank. Everything is tight. I have drained and flushed a few times but thats it.

Water pump under 40K did it for me...

And yes, just short of the tranny, the radiator is one of those I don't want to be caught with on the road...

Zionsville is making a radiator for the E53 for the tune of 1K....

They have been making high quality radiators for a very long time now for other models. Only thing is that you would have to go through the radiator your car came with and two new ones before it made sense financially. They do take the faulty plastic of the OEM design out of the equation.
