Anyone go with Black or Chrome Side Steps??????

I was wondering if anyone has chosen to go with side steps instead of the OEM aluminum running boards. I had the OEM boards on my last X5, and while they looked great, the functionality wouldn't seem to be as good as something like this...

Romik Max Bars Side Steps, Romik Side Step

It seems with a family and a young son starting in sports, side steps may be a better option...I'm just not sure how they would look on the X...

I don't those would work well, if you look at your running boards they are attached via a plastic molding that runs that length of the car from the driver side door to the rear. Too much weight and you could have it just break off.
