You might run into problems with wiring, also I don't think that an E70 cluster would be direct swap. Your best bet would be to go with an advanced cluster from a 4.8is specifically made for E53's

The 4.8is for 04-06 4.4i will work like its a 4.8is.
Will not utilize the rpm warning leds for 3.0, or any m62tu engine. this instrument cluster is $800 employee price for me. so i wouldnt recommend it, if your considering costs involved.

...or someone could go onto eBay and spend easily half that. I counted about 10 M5 clusters on eBay.

and the milage and vin will not match, as well as the central coding key. unless you find someone with specialized knowledge.

I know, but it seems lots of people are popping up all over the boards who can do coding. GT1 stuff seems to be getting cheaper and cheaper by the day. Buying a new or used cluster is going to require coding regardless, so why not save some money. On top of buying a cluster through the dealership, I'm going to assume coding through one will also cost more than finding someone local who can do it for less.

Problem solved...there are m5 clusters all over eBay, hopefully w/ little to no dead pixels. If you don't find anything good on eBay, hop onto www.car-part.com and see what you can find.
