They would be the BMW dealership. they helped me fix mine b/c i was under 50k miles. if not, it would have cost me $2k + .

Unfortunately, your pano moonroof is toast! From what i remember, if you still want to use it, the whole sunroof cassette must be replaced.

Revisit your statement after another 3 months of ownership and decide for yourself. Let us know how your situation works out with the sunroof . . . actual issue, how it happened, parts needed, costs, etc.?

The service tech told me I should fully open, close and tilt the sunroof at least once a week to keep all the parts moving. What a "PITA" is what I thought!

I never thought about including my sunroof on the maintenance schedule but I'm marking it down right now . . . "open and close sunroof every Saturday at 10am," ok got it now.

So it is under use that kills panoramic roofs. And it is over use that kills window regulators. Got it. I think...

Wait . . . I'm confused now. So to avoid window related failures don't open my windows at all, but use my sunroof whenever possible? That's gonna look funny at the drive-thru.

It's the same old line... "USE IT! OR LOSE IT!"

But in the case of the X5, "Use it or lose it, but don't use it too much or you'll have to fix it again!"

I have the same problem damn this sunroof i actually closed mine with a screw driver there is a glide that opens the rear window.(a cheesy glide)I just push the glide back while closing the sunroof from an open tilt position and it close the rear...trust me the hammer was on my mind.
