Radio won't turn on.

No blown fuses...I give up. Any ideas? NAV works, radio doesn't.

Should I pull a battery cable and let everything "reset"?

I would try the battery cable disconnect too. These BMW electrical systems aren't what I would call bulletproof . . . but then again, neither is any other system on the vehicle. Maybe someday BMW will hire a licensed electrician.

I disconnected the battery for half an hour and the radio still won't come on. Any other suggestions?

Believe it or not, check or try to play with the wires in the rear right side of the trunk.

I had the same prob. with my 530 with nav. every thing worked but the radio!? Went to BMW! All I got was a bunch of people scratching there heads!!! So I tried this first. Went to the back of my car and opened the right side compartment and inside was a bunch of fuses pulled each one 1 by1 until I heard my CD player recycle. Took that fuse out for 20-30 sec. set it bake in and vola radio worked! Had to do that a couple of times since then. But now every thing works fine! I hope this helps you and that it's a similar prob. P.S. Ignition. was off!!!

It the fuses in the back. I think it is fuse 72 or 73, I actually did a post on this a while back when my radio was acting up

It worked!

Wife complained the radio stopped working today. Checked the glove compartment fuse...fine. Checked fuses 72 (30A) and 73 (7.5A) and replaced with same fuses since both were fine.

Then checked the radio and it works now...

Thanks for the tip!

Not a regular issue but Fuses get dislodged. Reseating the fuses sometimes works.

The fuses were both seated completely and fit tight in the fuse bank. The contact surfaces on both the fuses looked good. No corrosion or debris at all, so I just reinserted the fuses in their same configuration.

I suspect removing the fuse cut power to the radio electronics and a reboot took place when it was powered back up. Just my guess...

Had the X for 2 years. This just happened to me. Removed and replaced 72 and 73 in the hatch and all is well. Thanks Xoutpost!
