yea just have gloves on and some sort of eye wear and dont touch it if it just was on recently. Glass can be bad if u have a kung fu grip on them so its always good to be extra precautions.

The high voltage is for turning the lights on, with a minimal draw after the fact.
With the car off you should be fine.
